I received a paperwork packet from OHSU. My evaluation appointments are on October 8th and 9th. That is 2 months away which is why I'm feeling like I'm hurrying up to wait. Went to the public library last night to see if I could borrow 2 recommended books:
Rebuilt: How Becoming Part Computer Made Me More Human by Michael Chorost
And
Hear Again: Back to life with a Cochlear Implant by Arlene Romoff
The library didn't have either book and no books at all on the topic of CI. Sigh. Went to dinner with friends. Was nice because they all use ASL so I felt comfortable and completely included. However my friend group tends to be coworkers from the Deaf school who all know ASL. I haven't found any hearing/non-ASL friends in the time I've lived here really.
Also in the OHSU paperwork is the reccomendation for 2 vaccinations: PPSV23 Pneumovax 23, and PCV13 Prevnar. Emailed my doctor last night to ask if I needed an appointment for this. He responded today and ordered the shots for me. All I have to do is go to the nurses care station for the shots.
So I read through the paperwork, will be getting my shots, and started this blog. Now I just have to hurry up and wait.
