So, I'm bad at blogging I guess. I just don't make the time for it. :). I'd rather be reading a book.
Testing with the audiologist in the booth went well. I failed. One reason that makes me a good CI candidate.
Jeff went to the appointment with me. He is a good advocate with good questions. We both listened while the Audi explained the 3 CI models available. Then I had to make a choice. That was tough.
Finally picked Med El. Why? They have the best warranty - 5 years, covers everything. Their electrode is the deepest insert and least invasive. The processor was the smallest. They currently have the best battery life. I don't love the assembly of the outer processor with the little pin holding it all together but that is a minor annoyance. I will get 2 BTE processors, the free Rondo, and a free Bluetooth neckloop. Accessories that I can use are a plus. I ordered the Rondo in white and the processors 1 white and 1 green. :)
I didn't choose the other 2 for various reasons. I didn't feel Cochlear America had an updated enough inner processor. AB didn't have as good a warranty as Med El and I wasn't worried about needing a processor I could wear while swimming.
I messaged the doctor online with my requests for appointments. I want the surgery before December 31 so I can benefit from the Med Ed free Bluetooth neck loop.
Had my cat scan tonight, Monday, Oct 21, 2013. Short quick visit. 3-4 minutes and I was done.
My pre-op appointment is November 5th at 2:30 pm. My surgery is set for November 11, 2013. Don't know the time yet or the cost. The insurance person told Jeff to expect to pay our deductible plus 15%.
Informed my boss I need Nov 11 - 15th off for surgery and recuperation. My teaching team is awesome and so supportive!
My husband is learning ASL and has class on Tuesdays. His support has been amazing. Love him so much!
That's all for now...
Hugs from a cyborg-in-waiting ;)
